DESCRIPTION: Ciprolac contains Ciprofloxacin, a broad spectrum fluoroquinolone with activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Fluoroquinolones are efficacious, well tolerated bactericidal drug, with broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity and exhibit excellent bioavailability. Ciprolac TZ has tinidazole, which is a potent amoebicide. The advantage of the combination is its effectiveness against both bacteria and protozoa. Lactobacillus sporogenes in Ciprolac helps in preventing diarrhoea and also maintain normal intestinal Flora which is usually disturbed with the action of antibiotics.
MECHANISM OF ACTION: Ciprofloxacin acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase enzyme which is required for DNA replication and thus cause bacteriallysis.
MICROBIOLOGY: Ciprolac possess excellent activity against members of Enterbacteriaceae family, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, H.influenzae, N. gonorrhoea, N. menin-gitidis and Moraxella catarrhalis. It also exhibit good activity against Staph. aureus and Staph. epidermidis isolates that are methicillin susceptible.
PHARMACOKINETICS: Rapidly absorbed after oral administration, it is has the best tissue penetration amongst Fluoroquinolones.
